After hearing stories from college friends who went to work for the Big Eight (now final four) accounting firms, I knew that was not the place for me. After turning down several offers from the Big Eight I found a large local firm that I really liked. What attracted me to the smaller firm environment was that I would get to see the entire picture for the clients I was assigned to, as opposed to the Big Eight employees who spent their first years working on the cash audit of fortune 500 companies.

Now that I have been working with closely held businesses for my entire career, I have learned many things. First and foremost I have learned not to be a “score-keeper”. Through working directly with owners/managers of these businesses, I have truly become one of my clients’ most trusted advisors. Secondly, our clients require a flexible approach to their business matters, but an inflexible approach to the quality of services. Lastly, I have the conviction that our clients wish to be counseled as professionals by professionals.

EXPERIENCE

Mr. Pastron is a Partner of Horwich Coleman Levin, LLC. He has practiced public accounting for over 25 years. He is diverse in his knowledge of taxes including corporate, partnership, individual and trusts, audit, and accounting, and management advisory services. He has experience with accounting software selection, implementation, integration and upgrades. He has also successfully implemented related hardware upgrades.

Dan’s philosophy stems from his entire career of working with closely held businesses. As a result, he has learned many things. First and foremost, he has learned not to be a “scorekeeper”. PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE

Prior to joining Horwich Coleman Levin, LLC in August, 2007, Mr. Pastron spent most of his career practicing public accounting for a prominent north shore Chicago accounting firm. He also has worked for, and as a consultant to, financially distressed businesses.
